This is a new Art Collective and Company model I am embarking on in 2018 directly coming from the exploration of my residencies over the last year. Sparsile operates as an organisation built on adjacency of art forms through trans-disciplinary practices. With a central over-arching concept, we come together with various artists and designers, and through music as our narrative centre, explore new experiences and models of making, at all times as much as possible avoiding downward hierarchies of traditional practice.
Simply put, we try to make work that is not merely layers of different media and form applied atop one another, but instead as close to a unity of experience and making through disciplines as possible. This is achieved by opening up the process to full inclusion and giving each element its own aspect of autonomy.
Our first project together is In Clouds, and sees me joining creative forces with composer Michael Gallen, dancer/choreographer Stephanie Dufresne, contemporary choral ensemble Tonnta led by Robbie Blake, writer Sara Baume and designers Sarah Jane Shiels, David Mathúna and Izabelle Balikoeva and produced by Maura O'Keeffe and Eimear Reilly as part of Triskel Christ Church and Cork Midsummer Festival.
In Clouds ventures off course into a new musical world, creating an immersive experience and asking us to find comfort in a world of unknowns where we can abandon the notions of the clock for the cloud. Details about the show can be found here
